THOUSANDS of model railway enthusiasts flocked to Southend to visit one of the largest exhibitions in Essex.

Shoebury Model Railway Club ran their 35th annual festival of model railways and hobbies from Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre..

More than 60 exhibitors and traders came along to the two-day model railway show with train and railway designs and models.

The show predominantly featured model railways, but also model cars, boats and planes.

There was also a pop up work bench to display the club’s new projects.

Exhibitors included Model Electronic Railway Group, Newchapel Junction, West Essex Raceway, Lindhurst, Sugar Hall Railway and Southend Radio Flying Club.

Charity organisations such as Essex Air Ambulance Trust also attended.

Traders include Mad about Trains, Bestmodeller, Chalk Garden Rail, Natural Scenics and SAT Model Rail.

Traders also supplied tools, books and modelling items to help people get started on their new hobbies.
