An elderly lady suffered burns during a fire in an arts and crafts studio.
Firefighters were called to reports of a fire this morning just after 11am involving an outbuilding in Central Wall Road, Canvey.
Crews advised on arrival that the outbuilding, which is partly wood structure and measures around three metres by five metres, had collapsed following a small explosion.
Firefighters extinguished the fire completely by 11:30am and proceeded to use thermal imaging cameras to ensure that there were no remaining hotspots within the structure.
The outbuilding, which is used as an arts and crafts studio, has been destroyed.
An elderly lady was left in the care of the Ambulance Service after suffering from burns.
A fire investigation is currently ongoing, but this incident is not being treated as suspicious.
