POLITICAL parties have started taking their messages door-to-door, campaigning to be chosen in the local elections this May.

Tendring Council has 60 seats up for election.

The current Conservative-led administration has been in power for four years after gaining 33 seats in the 2011 elections.

This gave the party a majority on Tendring Council for the first time since 1991.

Liberal Democrats were the biggest losers, dropping from six seats to two.

Labour gained two seats overall to give them a total of nine.

But with hot topics expected to include street lighting and plans to build thousands of homes across the district, the 2015 election could be a hot contest.
