Carmichael: We are on hiding to nothing
HARWICH and Parkeston manager Matt Carmichael admits his side are on a “hiding to nothing” in tomorrow’s derby at Little Oakley.
The neighbours are set to do battle in a Kent Blaxill Essex and Suffolk Border League premier division showdown at the Memorial Ground (kick-off 3pm).
The Shrimpers have made an eye-catching start to the season, winning their opening two games, scoring eight goals and conceding just one.
Oakley, on the other hand, have slumped to three heavy defeats and shipped 15 goals.
Despite their contrasting fortunes, Carmichael is guarding against complaceny and says there is no chance of his side taking the contest lightly.
“There isn’t a favourite in these matches,” said the former Harwich player, who saw his side win 3-1 at Tiptree Jobserve last Saturday.
“In many ways we’re on a hiding to nothing.
“People are expecting us to win, because of the starts both teams have made, and if we lose it’ll be considered a surprise."
