Francis is excited by the challenge ahead
1:00pm Friday 20th September 2013 in Sport
JOE Francis is taking the reins as new Harwich and Dovercourt Rugby Club skipper.
The PE teacher replaces Sean Mills, as captain of the Eastern Counties League side.
Harwich begin their division one campaign tomorrow, with a short trip to Mersea Island.
And Francis says he is excited by his new role at Wick Lane.
“I see the role as club captain and not just first-team captain, which comes with added responsibility and pressure,” he said.
“I want to get the very best out of everyone who pulls on a club shirt and that starts with myself.
“We need to reflect and improve on what we do as players and this will be a key part of our game-day approach and training plans.
“We need to examine what we do and use the experience of our older players, combining this with the fresh new ideas of our younger players, to get the very best out of the squad.”
