HARWICH and Dovercourt Rugby Club skipper Joe Francis insists his side are still capable of a top-four finish.
His troops lie third from bottom in the 11-team Eastern Counties League division one table, following last weekend’s 28-10 defeat at home to Mersea Island.
However, Francis is still confident heading into the new year and remains convinced his side can make progress in 2014.
“We’re more than capable of a top-four finish, if we pick up wins and things go our way,” said the Harwich captain, who was forced to watch from the sidelines last weekend due to chest and shoulder injuries.
“It’s time to rest and refresh ourselves, but I’m looking forward to seeing key players return in the new year.
“We have some good things to take forward into the Christmas break.
“But if we have any new year resolution, it has to be to have belief in what we do and to play with intensity for 80 minutes.”
