RAY Turner says he is enjoying a new lease of life at Brantham Athletic.
The former FC Clacton manager showed his predatory instincts by netting twice in Saturday’s 4-1 success against Diss Town.
They were his first goals for his new club and, having worked so hard to regain his fitness and sharpness, he now believes he can go from strength to strength.
“I haven’t played much on a consistent basis, since the age of 28 or 29, because of my management responsibilities at Stanway (where he was assistant to Steve Pitt) and Clacton,” said Turner.
“It’s only now that I’m really getting back into it and I’m really enjoying it.
“The training’s spot on and I’m soaking up all the knowledge of people like Abes (manager Paul Abrahams) and Steve Downey.
“I’m really benefitting from it and although I’m now 33, I feel I’m getting back some kind of fitness and sharpness.
“Paul and Steve have given me a new lease of life, so I owe a lot to them for showing so much confidence in me.”
