HARWICH Amateur Boxing Club took three members to the Essex University show, in Colchester.
Leading the way was 12-year-old Stevie Martin, who was looking to score a repeat win over old rival Louis Curtis, of Colchester Boxing Club.
Martin had enjoyed a close victory when the pair met last season.
In the meantime, Curtis had gained more experience and was high on confidence.
Unfazed, Martin opened with sharp counter-punches in reply to Curtis’ advances, amid a fantastic atmosphere, with both sets of supporters being vocal.
Martin’s fast hands and feet made him an effective puncher and an elusive target, to shade the first.
Curtis had more success in the second as he battled hard to close the gap.
With the crowd on their feet for an epic last round, Martin just pulled away with his sublime skills evident to take a close yet unanimous points win.
