HARWICH and Parkeston boss Matt Carmichael has decided to “take a break” from football – and his long-term future at the club is uncertain.

The Shrimpers manager is set to miss tomorrow’s Kent Blaxill Essex and Suffolk Border League premier division trip to AFC Barnston.

Chairman Tony Armstrong will lead the team along with first-team coach Mark Sharpe.

Carmichael may return for Tuesday’s potential title-decider at home to Gas Recreation, at the Royal Oak.

However, there are no guarantees.

Shrimpers stalwart Armstrong hopes to meet up with his manager to discuss the situation over Easter.

“Matt has asked for a break,” he said.

“The timing is unfortunate but hopefully Matt and I will have a chance to sit down and chat over Easter.

“We’re going to take it one game at a time, starting tomorrow, and then we’ll go from there."
