DOVERCOURT’S Terry Howlett is set to fly the flag for England.

And the experienced hockey player has a medal in his sights again as he goes for gold at next month’s World Cup, in the Netherlands.

Howlett will be hoping to add to his collection, this time in the over-70s category.

“I’m as excited as ever and feel we’ve got a very good squad,” said the 71-year-old, who has won medals in four previous World Cups – striking gold in Hong Kong and Cape Town and securing silvers in Leverkusen and Oxford.

“I’ll be more than disappointed if we don’t come away with gold medals.

“Our preparation has been good and we recently beat the Welsh over-65s – five years younger and fitter than us – 3-1 in Birmingham.

“Every time I go to these tournaments it feels different, but the excitement and anticipation is always there.”
