Triumphant Terry strikes gold again

Harwich and Manningtree Standard: Triumphant Terry strikes gold again Triumphant Terry strikes gold again

TERRY Howlett is feeling on top of the world again.

The Dovercourt hockey ace helped England to World Cup glory, in the over-70s category, at the event in The Hague.

And despite having won two previous golds, he admitted the sense of pride and satisfaction was just as great.

“It meant as much as any of my previous successes,” said Howlett, who also won World Cup golds in Hong Kong (in the over-60s) and Cape Town (over-65s).

“I love it and realise how lucky I am to be able to take part in these events.

“It gives me such a focus and I’m already looking forward to next year’s European Championships, here in England, and the 2016 World Cup, in Australia.

“I was very happy to help my team win another tournament.

“And it was made more special by the fact we were the only England side to win gold medals. We were the flag-bearers.”
