NEW joint-manager John Fidgett wants to help bring the good times back to Harwich and Parkeston.

The former Shrimpers midfielder has taken the reins along with Mark Sharpe, at the Essex and Suffolk Border League club.

The pair are replacing Matt Carmichael, who stepped down in May. And Fidgett, who helped run the club’s reserve side last season, is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“I’m very passionate about Harwich and Parkeston,” said the 58-year-old.

“I played for the club in three different spells and made my debut in the 1975-76 season, alongside (Harwich chairman) Tony Armstrong.

“It’s a special club and one of the oldest amateur sides in the country.

“It’s such a shame to have seen it decline over the years but hopefully we can help do our bit to turn things around."
