Armstrong: victory could prove a turning point

HARWICH and Dovercourt Cricket Club skipper Tommy Armstrong believes his side have turned a corner after springing a surprise on the league leaders.

The Tendring team sneaked home by one wicket in last weekend’s dramatic Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship contest at home to division five leaders Mildenhall thirds.

It was a timely tonic for Armstrong’s men, heading into tomorrow’s contest at Nacton.

And Armstrong believes his side are more than capable of building on their success, after leaving the pace-setters shell-shocked.

“It was a fantastic victory and couldn’t have been much closer, having gone right down to the wire.

“We’ve had a rough few weeks with bad form, bad luck and bad weather conspiring against us.

“So this was important and although it would have been nice to win more comfortably, having been in such a strong position, there was something special about winning so dramatically."
