HARWICH Town Sailing Club are set to host this year’s Hurricane Class National Championships Regatta.
More than 40 boats from all over the Brittish Isles have entered and they were expected to begin arriving at Harwich Green yesterday.
Today has been set aside for practice and the full event will be sailed over the following four days.
There will be two races a day and courses will be laid in Dovercourt Bay and may be able to be seen from Dovercourt seafront.
The Hurricane is a six-metre high performance catamaran – exciting to sail and watch.
The event is being managed by a Harwich Town Sailing Club team headed up by Andy Webb.
Webb has been the national champion on five occasions and won the European title in 2002.
