JORDAN Heath hopes to have lit the blue-touch paper after netting his first Ryman League goals.

And after scoring a brace in Brightlingsea Regent’s 4-0 demolition of Redbridge on Saturday, the ex-Harwich and Parkeston striker would love to find the scoresheet again in the Boxing Day showdown at AFC Sudbury.

Former Shrimpers front man Heath joined Ryman League division one north side Regent in the autumn, after a short spell with Stanway Rovers.

However, until the weekend, he was still waiting patiently to open his account for the club.

He admits it was a relief to get off the mark – and hopes his goals are the first of many during his time at North Road.

“I was very pleased, both from a personal point of view and for the team,” said Heath, who also played for Harwich’s Essex and Suffolk Border League rivals, Little Oakley.

“I was beginning to wonder when the first goal might come and I’m glad it’s out the way.

“It’s a relief and hopefully I can kick on now and get a few more.

“It didn’t really work out for me at Stanway but I’m certainly enjoying myself at Brightlingsea.

“They’re a great bunch of lads.

“I knew a few of them before joining but they’ve all made me so welcome and I love it here.

“The boys have been playing very well lately and the tempo we play at keeps catching teams by surprise.

“We score early goals and then keep on going.

“We’ve had a couple of blips but we always respond positively and that’s what makes us such a good side.

“We performed badly against Chatham but then played very well at Aveley and it was nice to follow it up by winning again on Saturday.

“We controlled the game against Redbridge.

“We pinned them back, looked to get behind them and they just couldn’t handle us.

“Hopefully we can keep picking up more points and it’s an absolutely fantastic position for the club to be in at Christmas.

“We’re only five points off the play-offs so over-achieving, but always looking to push on, rather than standing still. We’re very ambitious.”
