HARWICH and Dovercourt Rugby Club’s under-sevens and under-eights competed at a tag festival in Hadleigh.
The under-sevens really worked as a team, with good communication from captain-for-the-day Charlie O’Connell.
Excellent passing from Belle Turner, Oliver Webber and O’Connell saw lots of brilliant runs and well-deserved tries.
The team improved as they day went on and Ruben Tricker and Bailey Gould made some excellent tags.
They all thoroughly enjoyed the day and were a credit to the club.
Harwich’s under-eights team consisted of Lily Messenger, Oliver Payne, Ellis Taylor, MJ Clutton, Phoenix Carney, Archie Pitham and Jessie Tricker.
The pool games saw them celebrate a great 9-5 win against Mistley, followed by an 8-8 draw with Hadleigh.
By the time their third game came round against Felixstowe, the team put their training into practice and enjoyed a 9-4 win.
Despite some great tagging, they then suffered a 5-2 loss to Braintree A.
This saw them into the Shield competition, where they beat Hadleigh B 9-7.
They went on to win the final 6-5 against Braintree B.
