HARWICH Boxing Club’s Jimmy Preston was hoping for his second win in as many contests when he competed on a show in Chigwell.
On this occasion he was up against Waltham Forest ABC’s Ben Pascal.
Preston (pictured) forced the pace in the opening round, against the much taller host club boxer.
The 17-year-old’s pressure tactics paid off in the second round, as solid punches at the end saw the referee administer a standing-eight count against Pascal. A solid jab from Preston then paved the way to victory as he stormed the final session.
Another salvo of combination punches towards the close of the bout convinced the referee to call a halt to proceedings in favour of the Harwich boxer, by way of a technical knockout (TKO).
Preston’s achievement also saw him earn the handsome-sized trophy for best senior boxer of the night.
