YOUNG athletes from Chase Lane Primary School flew the flag for Tendring at the Essex Youth Games, at Southend’s Garon Park.

The Dovercourt school were up against the cream of the county and finished a very respectable 13th overall.

Chase Lane had qualified as regional champions and competed as Tendring representatives.

The events consisted of many different track and field disciplines, including long and triple jumps, javelin and numerous relays.

Meanwhile, Chase Lane won the regional cross-country event held last Thursday.

The contest, which was previously postponed due to poor weather, was hosted by Clacton County High School.

Chase Lane were represented by 44 children, who flew the flag for Harwich against the champions of other towns in the area.

Twenty-four of them qualified for the Essex County Finals, which were due to be held at Southend’s Garon Park yesterday.
