DOVERCOURT Bowling Club president Ben Vernaven called players to the green for their traditional opening game, against a side led by captain David Payne.
It was an especially important day for Vernaven because, although president of the club last year, ill health prevented him from bowling. The green looked immaculate and bowled exceptionally well.
With Dovercourt’s Brian Hopkins becoming president of the Tending Hundred Bowling Association, this will be a busy summer for the club, with extra representative matches.
