LITTLE Bromley’s Grace Smith competed in her first novice horse national qualifier driving trials at Ashfields.
Competing on new KWPN gelding, Max, she drove a lovely dressage test and won with a score of 40.2.
The 14-year-old then drove a double-clear-cones round, 25 seconds under the time allowed to win this phase, giving her an overnight lead by 20 penalties.
Overnight rain made the marathon phase very slippery and muddy.
Smith drove carefully but still produced very fast times in the six obstacles and won the marathon, too.
It gave her an overall win by 30 penalties, qualifying her for the National Championships at Cirencester Park, in September.
