CHASE Lane Primary School won the 67th Fisherman’s Cup final on Saturday.
They beat St Josephs 8-1 in the annual schools’ event, run by the Harwich Primary Schools Sports Association.
It continued their dominance of the silverware, having won it seven times in the last eight years.
This is a remarkable and unmatched achievement in the history of the competition.
However, the final score did not reflect the overall balance of play.
Chase Lane were two goals to the good by half-time.
St Josephs were unlucky not to half the deficit just before the break, but shot agonisingly wide.
Chase Lane then netted again early in the second half.
St Josephs replied, but Chase Lane netted again and then began to dominate play towards the end of the game, scoring a flurry of late goals with some clinical finishing.
Chase Lane’s scorers were Charlie Wotton (3), Kobe Ayling (3), Harry Wingfield and Ruby Kilden.
St Josephs replied through Michael Keeley.
