HARWICH Angling Club held the second in a series of 11 midweek evening matches on Bradfield Lake.

This well-supported, three-hour sprint silver-fish only match was held on the field side and car park bank sections.

On a warm, bright and sunny evening, with occasional cloud cover and the lake having good colour and in mill-pond condition, all anglers were eager to get started.

From the start whistle, everyone had action in their swims and put fish in their nets.

When the whistle went to end the match, there was a lot of interest from all anglers at the weigh-in as word spread around the lake about some decent catches.

In first place was junior member Rosie Mortimer, who is having an excellent start to her season.

Fishing from the bush peg seven using the pole, she float-fished with maggots as hook bait.

Feeding little and often with ground bait, she weighed in with 8lbs 6ozs of skimmers, roach, rudd and perch.

Second place went to Con Keilty, on the corner peg 11.

Using the rod, he float fished and had a weight of 6lbs 2ozs roach, rudd and perch.

Following in third place was Marc Snelling, on peg three, with a 5lbs 3ozs weight of mixed silvers.

Paul Scott, on peg ten, took fourth place with a weight of 4lbs 15ozs.

With Bradfield Lake still continuing to give up good catches, member Ashley Haveron, a carp specialist angler, landed an excellent 9lbs 6ozs common carp during his trip to the lake.

Fishing from the south bank on a sunny day, Haveron had some good sport to round off a fine session.
