NEW players are welcome to try their hand at petanque.
Sessions for anyone interested in playing the sport take place every Sunday morning, on the field next to Clacton Leisure Centre, in Vista Road.
They are run by Derek Gutteridge, who is hoping to attract enough players to enter a team in the Essex League.
“Now the weather is nicer, it would be great to see some more people come along,” he said.
“ We have four or five people every week and the last couple to join us came along after reading something in the Gazette.
“If we can get enough people who are interested and enthusiastic enough, it would be great to think about entering a team in the Essex League.”
The weekly sessions start at 11am and run until around 12.30pm.
Anyone is welcome to come along, whether they have played petanque before or not.
