HARWICH and Dovercourt Golf Club’s Evans Bowl handicap bogey competition was won by Nick Rate.

He carded a two-under-par score to post +8.

In second was Lewis Cooke, with +6, and in third was Geoff Brown, with +5.

Rate is in a rich vein of form, having been the best player not in the top four when competing on the 1906 Tour.

Fourteen-year-old Abbie Henshall (22 handicap) competed in the Essex Ladies’ Spring Meeting, at Chelmsford.

She had a successful day and was nearest the pin on the 18th.

On the fifth hole, she holed her second shot for an eagle, winning nearest the pin in two.
