IT’S been a busy, successful week for Harwich and Dovercourt Golf Club.
In addition to staging their annual club championships, their Leslie Wood Plate team made progress to the semi-finals after beating Stoke-by-Nayland 5½-4½.
Their next opponents will be Hainault Forest.
In the club championship gold division, Jordan Slater and Tom Neale were tied at level par after the 36 holes.
They then went into a five-hole play-off.
Slater scored three birdies to win this year’s premier competition.
Results: 1 J Slater (after a five-hole play-off) 140, 2 T Neale 140, 3 J Oakley (on countback) 148.
The silver division, also held over 36 holes, was for handicaps above 15.
Sam Warren was the eventual winner, beating his father on countback, and he also won the Paul Partridge Handicap Trophy.
Results: 1 Sam Warren (on countback) 169, 2 Rob Warren 169, 3 Graham Pomfrett 174.
Other results: Seniors’ Essex Knockout Cup quarter-finals: Harwich lost 8-3 away to Rayleigh. Badge of shame winner (for the third time): Danny Turner 20 points. Vets’ result: Harwich and Dovercourt 6 Colne Valley 2.
