JARRYD Walsh produced more fireworks to help Mistley’s cricketers to a 58-run victory against struggling Maldon.

The South African plundered an unbeaten 133 in the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division one contest and he was backed up by Ben Allday (53) and James Scott (41).

Maldon put up a fight, not least opener Chris Harris (85) and Martyn Coker (47).

But Mistley’s bowlers turned the screw, with Jason Pembroke returning four for 52 and Bruce Leeke three for 52.

The Swans had lost their previous two games and this was their first success since winning at Sudbury on July 4. Daniel Goff’s mid-table side travel to Elmstead Grasshoppers tomorrow.

In division three, Mistley’s second team lost by four wickets at Ipswich and East Suffolk.
