Sue Keen took the title of Harwich and Dovercourt Ladies’ Champion 2015.

Playing over 27 holes, having successfully adapted to the difficult playing conditions which caused considerable problems to all the contestants, Keen rose to the challenge to take the win.

Gina Doyle also put in a good performance, winning the 27-hole handicap Trixie Lambert Trophy, as did Chris Bradford who won the 18-hole handicap prize.

Jane Hurst scored a fabulous 40 points to win the Kitty Edmonds Trophy, eight points more than the three players who tied for seonnd place.

She also won the Elizabeth Bernard Trophy with a +1 score.

Carol Wrayton carded a par score to take the Yorkshire Hennibique Trophy.

Beryl Mathews had a wonderful victory, winning her first board trophy, the Campbell Cup in fine style.

Viv Dale was the winner of medal nine with a nett 69 and Carol Wrayton won medal 11 with a nett 76.

Clacton hosted the return leg of the Barton Smith competition.

Despite the best efforts of Harwich they were unable to overcome the one game deficit they were carrying into the match and Clacton retained the trophy.

The Annual Cyril Rand Memorial Trophy was this year played at Clacton Golf Club with 48 competitors taking part was won by Clacton seniors captained by Joe Middleton, with a score of 7-5 Results: Veterans’ Basil Warner stableford: 1 Ray Pryce 36, 2 Steve Barker 36, 3 Alan Scott 34.

The Seniors’ Open saw 56 competitors from surrounding clubs taking part.

The winning pair were Ron Kirton and George Crane (Stoke by Nayland) with 44 points.

The Vets section was able to make a donation of £200 to club captain, Gus Hales’ charity.

There was an excellent turn out last Saturday for the club’s Centenary Cup, a competition that is in its tenth year.

Kieran Brown returned a great score of 46 points for first place.

Runner-up, on count back, was Phil Murray with 38 and third, also on countback, was Marcus Hawkins.
