BRANTHAM Athletic boss Paul Skingley has more reason than most to be looking forward to Sunday’s FA Vase tie against Sawbridgeworth.

The Imps manager has missed the club’s last three games due to a family holiday in Wales.

He was away for their epic 7-3 victory against Thetford, the 3-2 defeat at Felixstowe and Walton and last week’s brilliant 2-0 win at Great Wakering Rovers, in the FA Cup.

So it’s no surprise that he’s excited to be back at the helm for Sunday’s first qualifying round tie (kick-off 2pm).

“It was a family trip that’s been booked for a long time, since before I became manager,” said Skingley.

“It was lovely to get away but I’ve missed my football.

“I enjoy it here and there’s such a strong team spirit.

“There’s a good atmosphere within the squad and I get on well with all the boys.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back in the dug-out on Sunday.

“We want to do well and be competitive in every match we play – be it the league, the Vase or the FA Cup.

“They’re all great competitions and the more games the merrier, as far as I’m concerned.

“That would suggest we’re doing well and having a good run.

“I’d certainly rather that than get knocked out, then left kicking our heels on a blank Saturday.”
