HARWICH Angling Club hosted the third Essex Inter Club League division one match on the B and C sections of Dock River.

Every angler put fish in their nets, producing a reasonable total weight of 150lbs 4ozs 8drs.

The top weight was 25lbs 14ozs 0drs, including seven bonus bream of 23lbs 7ozs 0drs, from match peg E3 (perm peg B10).

The lowest weight was just 2ozs 8drs, from match peg A7 (perm peg C15).

Harwich picked up a total of 36½ section points, finishing in fifth place, with Maldon AS taking first place with 51½ points.

In second were Braintree DAS, with 42 points, with Does AC third, with 39.

Chelmsford AA Blue were fourth, with 38.

The best performance for Harwich was from Barry Hickford, on match peg C6 (perm peg C38), who weighed in with 6lbs 1ozs 0drs.

This included a bonus bream of 4lbs 1oz 0drs.

He came first in his section, picking up a valuable ten points and finishing an excellent third overall.

Harwich’s other results: Paul Rossington, on match peg A2 (perm peg C10), with 1lb 8ozs 0drs, picking up seven points; Ged Spurgin, on match peg B7 (perm peg C27), with 1lb 8ozs 8drs, picking up seven points; Rob Houlding, on match peg D8 (perm peg B3), with 2lbs 2ozs 8drs, picking up six points; Steve Palmer, on match peg F5 (perm peg B24), with 1lb 7ozs 0drs, picking up 3½ points; Paul Chambers, on match peg E10 (perm peg B17), with 1lb 4ozs 0drs, picking up three points.

Harwich have now dropped into second place in the league, with 25 points, just one behind leaders Maldon.

However, they will be hoping to reclaim top spot in the next match, which is on the River Chelmer, on Sunday, October 11.

In the team knockout competition, Harwich lost to Braintree DAS by just 5½ points.

In the individual knockout competition, Harwich had two anglers get through to the next round.

Rob Houlding beat M Goodwin, of CAPS A, by one point, and Steve Palmer beat C Dyall, of Chelmsford AA Red, by 1½ points.
