BRANTHAM’S cricketers have wrapped up promotion – without having to bowl a ball.
They secured the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division eight east title after Felixstowe twos conceded Saturday’s contest.
Brantham will therefore play division seven cricket next year, after being crowned champions with a game to spare.
Knowing a full 20-point haul would get them over the line, they achieved this without a ball being bowled after their opposition were unable to raise a side.
It means Brantham can head into tomorrow’s final fixture against confirmed runners-up Frinton with the pressure off.
Bar a washed out game in June, they have won 15 consecutive matches and only suffered defeat against Sudbourne Hall in their first fixture of the season on April 25.
