HARWICH Men’s League A division champions Ind Coope A have made a winning start to the new season.

In the opening game, they beat Hanover A 7-2.

The only winners for the Hanover in the singles were Peter Cheesman and Alan Mathieson.

Ind Coope A lead the division with Cricket Club second.

The Cricketers had a 6-3 home win over Hanover B.

The three following teams had 5-4 wins.

Ind Coope B had Derek Tarbard to thank as he won the last game for a win against newly-promoted Golf Club.

Squirrels won 5-4 after finding themselves 4-1 down to Little Oakley.

Squirrels hit back by winning the last four single games, with Rob Baker taking the last game for the victory.

Lee Short, for Maybush, won the last game for a 5-4 win over Trafalgar.

Trafalgar’s Dan Fox had the best game of the week with a 180 and a 128 finish, including a bull finish.

In the B division, Ships and Shakers lead the standings after both teams had 7-2 wins over Luney club and Globe. Nick Lawrie (Ships) scored a 180.

Cherry Tree, in third spot, had a 6-3 win over the Flag.

Rangers’ Lindsey Gueizelar won his game for a 5-4 win over Little Oakley B.

Rangers’ Richard Tedder had a 102 finish.

Royal Oak’s Mick Clarke won the last game at the R/A club.

Paul Kempen hit 180 for the Oak and R/A club’s Malcolm Carter also hit a maximum.

All clubs must be represented at the Committee meeting at the Royal on Monday at 8pm.
