BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT manager James Webster says it is great to be working with goalkeeper Dan Beeson again.

Beeson has been a big part of Regent’s success in recent seasons but, after moving on, the club turned to former Needham Market man Andy Plummer.

However, Plummer is now away for a couple of months as he is working overseas.

Webster re-signed Beeson and the shot-stopper kept a clean sheet on his debut, in the 3-0 victory against Soham Town Rangers.

He then played his part in last week’s 3-1 victory at Needham, in the Alan Turvey Trophy, before pulling off an excellent double save in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Phoenix Sports.

“Dan’s as good as any goalkeeper in this division,” said Webster, who takes his side to Brentwood Town tonight for an Essex Senior Cup tie.

“He’s such a big presence and his influence rubs off on the whole back four.”

Tonight’s match is a third-round tie and Regent will be hoping to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat in Kent.

It was their first in the Ryman League north division since September 8.

“It was disappointing, but our recent form has been very good and last week’s victory at Needham was our best performance of the whole season,” said Webster, who was taking charge of his 300th Regent game at Phoenix.

“We showed so much quality and composure.

“It’s taken time for our new lads to gel but their hard work is beginning to bear fruit.”

Elsewhere tonight, WITHAM TOWN have a Ryman League north division match at home to Dereham.

They will be looking to build on Saturday’s 3-2 win against Barkingside.

“I’ve said for a while that we’re in a false position in the table, because we’ve been playing well but just not getting results,” said boss Garry Kimble.

“Now we need to keep putting results on the board.”

It’s a quiet week in the Thurlow Nunn League, apart from Suffolk Premier Cup matches.

BRANTHAM ATHLETIC have a home tie against Ipswich Wanderers.
