BRANTHAM ATHLETIC 3

GORLESTON 0

Thurlow Nunn League premier division

BRANTHAM bounced back to winning ways after three league and cup defeats.

In that time they had shipped ten goals and failed to score any.

However, they ended their goal drought thanks to a third-minute effort from Simon Mann.

It paved the way to a fantastic 3-0 victory, thanks to further goals from Sean Gunn and Sean Bartlett.

Both teams started quickly on a heavy pitch.

Harry Mann saw a shot go just wide while Gorleston’s Peter Lambert tested Imps keeper Paddi Hawkins.

Brantham opened their account when a good move down the right, started by Matt Travis, saw the ball played to Simon Mann.

He left his marker trailing behind as he made his way down the flank.

Mann then cut in and, from just inside the box, let fly with a superb shot into the back of the net.

Both teams were keen to go forward at every chance.

Lambert saw a good shot well-taken by Hawkins.

Both sides had adapted to the wet conditions, with both playing some telling passes to their front men.

Gunn played a good through ball to the livewire Harry Mann.

He turned his marker and sent in a shot that the Gorleston keeper did well to hang on to.

Gorleston were also quick going forward and Ingram had a shot that Hawkins put behind for a corner.

Brantham’s back four were working overtime to keep them out, with some well-timed tackles.

Travis, Matt Stace and Jack Sibbons all played well, as did full-back Ed Nobbs.

The second half saw both teams again create chances and it was Brantham who scored the vital next goal, when the ball was played towards the corner flag.

Gunn latched on to it, looked up and saw the Gorleston keeper running out of his goal towards the ball.

Gunn took his time and sent in a superb shot from an awkward angle that ended up in the back of the net.

Brantham got their third when a good move started deep in their own half saw Bartlett beat his marker and hit home into the corner of the goal.
