HARWICH Runners enjoyed a strong turnout on the Parkrun circuit.

Twenty runners from the club were part of the 85-strong field at the popular event based in Cliff Park.

The in-form Mark Lloyd was first back to the bandstand to claim his fifth win at the event, in a swift 18 minutes and 30 seconds.

He was joined on the podium by talented new signing Sebastian Keczmerski, who finished third overall in 19m 51s.

Fourteen-year-old Archie Barrington put in yet another fine performance for fourth spot, close to his best-ever time in 20m 28s.

Phil Sanderson ensured another Harwich vest was among the top ten, finishing ninth in 22m 25s.

Two Harwich Runners managed to produce course bests.

A resurgent Peter Clarke shaved nine seconds off his previous best to finish 11th overall in 22m 45s and Jo Higgon claimed the biggest improvement of the day by taking 48 seconds off her best in 29m 12s.

The Harwich ladies were in fine form again, with Claire Gooding Matthews securing yet another win in 24m 29s, joined by Claire Bransby as second woman in 25m 37s and Ann Piercy third in 27m.

Kieran Callaghan was the club’s sole representative among the 317-strong field at the Colchester Castle Parkrun, finishing in the top third of the field in 24m 53s for 104th place.

Louise Papworth added yet another new course to her Parkrun collection, tackling the Panshanger event, in Hertfordshire.

Despite the muddy forest trail route and uphill finish, she was pleased to record her fastest run of the year so far, finishing in 32m 24s.

Over at the Great Cornard event, Richard Flutter was once again in attendance.

Piling on the miles in preparation for the London Marathon in April, Flutter was rewarded with one his best performances in recent months to finish fifth overall in 19m 53s.
