HARWICH and Dovercourt High School are celebrating a rugby success.

Their year seven team were crowned champions of a coastal schools seven-a-side tournament.

First they beat Clacton County High School 2-0, with tries from Sam Parker and Kobè Ayling.

They then won by the same score against Clacton Coastal Academy.

Parker was on the scoresheet again and he was joined by Jack Desmond.

Tendring Technology College provided the next opposition and it was all-square until the latter stages.

However, quick footwork led to the only try of the game, scored by Ayling.

Harwich's final match was against Colne Community College.

Despite having a try disallowed and going close on several occasions, they could not break the deadlock and the match finished try-less.

However, Harwich were crowned overall winners and superb work from the whole team meant they won without conceding a single try.

The other members of the squad were Nathanael Gardener-Levy, Lex Walls, Jack Clover, Ryan Dykes, Charlie Smith, Josh Reason, Korbin Burdis, Danyel Dobrin and Harley Ciprov.

Meanwhile, Harwich's year eight team finished joint-second at an annual sevens tournament at Clacton County High School.

First up they beat the hosts thanks to tries from Regan Constable and Ioan Woodward.

After losing to Tendring Technology College, they beat Clacton Coastal Academy with tries from Harry Pitham and Constable.

The final game was against Colne and finished 0-0.
