BRAINTREE TOWN celebrated a dramatic 3-2 victory in tonight’s Vanarama National League contest at Woking.

Simeon Akinola grabbed their previous winner seven minutes from time.

It was the Iron’s first league win since beating Sutton United on September 12 and a perfect way to respond to Saturday’s 6-1 thumping at Dover Athletic.

Braintree had lost five of their previous six league matches, since that success at Sutton.

But they managed to halt the losing streak tonight and made a dream start after taking the lead in the second minute, through Oliver Muldoon.

Woking were in the driving seat at half-time thanks to goals from Joseph Jones and Fabio Saraiva.

However, Chez Isaac scored Braintree’s all-important leveller in the 52nd minute.

And Akinola popped up with their winner to spark wild celebrations.

In Ryman League division north, BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT were involved in another see-saw affair, this time drawing 2-2 at HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS.

Regent netted twice in the last three minutes to storm back and beat Thamesmead Town 4-3 on Saturday.

And they continued their free-scoring ways with two more goals in the opening 12 minutes at Scraley Road.

Tom Richardson notched both – first nodding home from close range after a long throw was flicked on at the near post.

The striker then doubled his tally, this time converting at the far post after a great work down the right from Ricky Griggs.

Swifts settled and pulled one back eight minutes before half-time.

Jack Barham fired home after the ball was played in from the right.

The highly-rated striker then got his side back on level terms just before the break by winning and converting a penalty.

Elsewhere in the Ryman League, MALDON AND TIPTREE pipped Thamesmead 2-1.

Both their goals came in the closing seconds before half-time.

Tyler Brampton opened the scoring with a great solo effort.

Liam Nash doubled his side’s lead from the penalty spot, before Thamesmead halved the deficit on 53 minutes.

WITHAM TOWN lost 2-1 at Tilbury, despite taking an early lead through Ryan Imbert.

Toby Aromolaran soon levelled and Neil Richmond grabbed the hosts’ winner on 65 minutes.

STANWAY ROVERS took the lead but eventually lost 2-1 at Bowers and Pitsea, in the third round of the Essex Senior Cup.

In the Thurlow Nunn League premier division, BRANTHAM ATHLETIC drew 0-0 at home to Hadleigh United.

In division one, HALSTEAD TOWN won 1-0 at Haverhill Borough – Chris Harris scored their winner - while HOLLAND FC pulled off a 3-2 victory at BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES.
