BRANTHAM ATHLETIC came from behind to defeat FC CLACTON 2-1 on Friday night.

Jamie Beecham put the bottom-of-the-table Seasiders in front, in the Thurlow Nunn League derby.

However, the Imps equalised late on to ensure the first half finished all-square.

Former Brantham man Michael Brothers then won a penalty – only to see his effort saved.

And to add insult to injury for the visitors, the Imps went in front soon after, scoring from a close-range header.

The result lifted Brantham up to third in the premier division table before Saturday’s matches.

They are also unbeaten in five league matches.

Clacton remain bottom, with just one point from their 18 matches.

Their next match could be crucial, as they welcome Swaffham – the side directly above them – to the Rush Green Bowl next Saturday.
