STANWAY ROVERS kept up their title challenge with a 2-0 victory at home to Great Yarmouth Town.

Angelo Harrop’s men stay second in the Thurlow Nunn League and are eight points behind leaders Mildenhall Town, who won 2-1 at Haverhill Rovers.

Stanway are unbeaten in 13 premier division matches after another victory at The Hawthorns.

Billy Hunt and Joss Neale scored their all-important goals.

WIVENHOE TOWN bounced back from a disappointing week as they drew 1-1 at Walsham-le-Willows.

The Dragons lost at home to Haverhill Rovers last weekend before being eliminated from the League Challenge Cup by Ipswich Wanderers on Wednesday.

However, they stopped the losing run with a point in Suffolk.

Adam Hampson gave them a half-time lead, nodding home at the far post after a cross from Jake Plane.

Walsham then blazed a second-half penalty over the bar but equalised from a header.

BRANTHAM ATHLETIC came from behind to defeat FC CLACTON 2-1 on Friday night.

Jamie Beecham put the bottom-of-the-table Seasiders in front, in the Thurlow Nunn League derby.

However, the Imps equalised late on to ensure the first half finished all-square.

Former Brantham man Michael Brothers then won a penalty – only to see his effort saved.

And to add insult to injury for the visitors, the Imps went in front soon after, scoring from a close-range header.

The result lifted Brantham up to third in the premier division table before Saturday’s matches.

They are also unbeaten in five league matches.

Clacton remain bottom, with just one point from their 18 matches.

Their next match could be crucial, as they welcome Swaffham – the side directly above them – to the Rush Green Bowl next Saturday.

In the first division, there were several matches between top-ten rivals.

Among them, leaders COGGESHALL TOWN romped to a 5-1 victory at home to Haverhill Borough but HALSTEAD TOWN were pipped 2-1 at second-placed Stowmarket Town.

Nnmandi Nwachuku scored a hat-trick for Coggeshall and Tom Monk two.

Halstead gave themselves a mountain to climb after conceding two early goals but pulled one back through Lewis Cunliffe.

HOLLAND FC, who started the day in third, eased to a 5-1 victory at home to Needham Market Reserves.

Keelan Sorrell scored twice and he was joined on the scoresheet by Terry Rymer, Billy Wales and Chris Ribchester.

Holland were leading 4-1 at the break.

BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES won 2-0 at Dereham Town Reserves.
