HARWICH and Dovercourt Cricket Club held their annual family day - and the event featured a special presentation.

The club awarded life membership to Essex captain Ryan ten Doeschate and supporter Connor Simpson.

This was in recognition for all the pair have done for the Low Road club.

"Ryan and Connor have raised a lot of money over the years through charity matches which Ryan has attended and played in and brought other Essex players down to play in," said Harwich first-team captain Lee Davis.

"Ryan also marks Harwich down as his linked club on Essex teamsheets, which again helps the club get known.

"The pair are great friends and it was nice we could provide life membership awards to both of them on the same day, with Connor's family and friends in attendance too."

The fun day was well-attended and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Ryan donated some signed Essex shirts for a raffle and £250 was raised for the Essex skipper's charity, The Lord's Taverners, as well as raising money for the club's youth section.

Harwich had no Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship match last weekend but they return to action at Stowmarket tomorrow.
