HARWICH and Parkeston roared to an impressive 4-2 victory at home to Alresford Colne Rangers, in the Essex and Suffolk Border League premier division on Saturday.

The Shrimpers were in sparkling form during the first half and built a 4-1 lead.

Within the first ten minutes, Matt Geen scored to start the goal rush.

Jake Richardson then robbed a defender before netting Harwich’s second and, with 25 minutes gone, Geen made it 3-0.

In the 40th minute, teenager Will Hughes was through and coolly beat goalkeeper Peter Spencer by stroking in number four.

Seventeen-year-old Thomas Wood made a very promising debut in goal for Harwich but, just before the break, he had no chance when Tom Gregory’s shot took a deflection to reduce the arrears for Alresford.

After the restart, Hughes’ shot hit the post as Harwich continued to control the game, although in the 58th minute an Alresford break saw James Walters make it 4-2.

Alresford came more into the game but Harwich went close when Brad Smith’s rasping free-kick was brilliantly tipped over the bar by Spencer.

Geen had a shot cleared off the line but Harwich could not reproduce their first-half sharpness and add to their score.

Tomorrow, the Shrimpers travel to West Bergholt.
