YOUNG Harwich and Dovercourt Judo Club members attended their first-ever contest, in Thetford.
All did well, gaining medals, and they were Ewen Beeson-Cocks, Lucas Moll, Tommy Moore, Luke Porter and Kyle Dawson.
The dads of two of the boys also did judo in their younger days.
One of them was Craig Moll, from Harwich's Park Pavilion Judo Club, which no longer runs, and he sometimes attended the Clacton club to train under current Harwich club coach Mick Hearn.
Judo classes for all ages take place on Thursday evenings behind the old magistrates court buildings in Main Road, Dovercourt.
