HARWICH and Dovercourt Golf Club members competed for their June Midweek Medal.

Phil Murray emerged victorious, going out in 41 and coming back in 40.

He had one birdie and six pars, beating Arthur Bennett in a card play-off. Jamie King also finished on 64.

Meanwhile, Harwich's Leslie F Wood team are through to the quarter-finals after a tense match against Romford.

It went down to the last putt of the final match.

In the June Basil Warner, Mike Whurr took top spot with 37 points.

Bob Dean (36) was second and David Southgate (35) third.

Veterans' captain Roderick Richardson held his away day at a superb, sun-soaked Stowmarket Golf Club.

The individual winner was Ken Stapleton, with 36 points.

The team winners, with 96 points, were Ken Stapleton, Bryan Austin and Richard Coombe.
