LADY captain Ruth Stapleton hosted her ladies' guest day at Harwich and Dovercourt Golf Club.

It took place in glorious sunshine.

Glynis Hutchence and guest Sheren Harding, from Frinton, amassed a spectacular 48 points in the fourball better ball stableford competition to take first place, followed by Linda Burrows and Julia Hewitt (Clacton).

Yvonne Davies and Tracy Taylor (Frinton) were third.

Nearest the pin on the seventh/16th for the guests was Brenda Lord (Clacton) and Chris Bradford for Harwich.

Janet Hiller (Clacton) was nearest the line on the second/11th for the guests and Mandy Champ for Harwich.

The lady captain presented the prizes to the winners and thanked those who had assisted her in making the day a wonderful success.

Elsewhere, the national Ping fourball better ball club qualifying competition was won by Georgie Grout and Kate Fender.

Linda Burrows claimed the Dumbarton Quaich and June Saunders and Georgie Grout the Yorkshire Hennibique trophies.

Kate Fender won medal eight.

Harwich's ladies have a three-match advantage to take into the second leg (away) of the Barton Smith competition against Clacton next month, following their fine win at home in June.
