Tosin Olufemi is targeting a Christmas return from the long-term Achilles injury that has sidelined him so far this season.
The Colchester United defender has been making good progress in his recovery from the injury, which he sustained in a pre-season friendly at Bishop's Stortford.
Olufemi, 20, is recovering well from the operation on his ruptured Achilles tendon and the specialist was delighted with his progress, following a recent meeting.
That has allowed the U's academy player to move on to the next stage of his comeback and remove the wedge insert he had in his boot cast.
As a result, Olufemi has been able to walk more freely and take part in a range of movement exercises that the surgeon has given him.
U's boss Tony Humes said: “Tosin is in the process of getting rid of the boot that he’s got on.
“He’s improving and he was due to see the specialist to see how he was progressing.
“Everything is on course for his return around Christmas time."
