KEMAR Roofe says his decision to join Colchester United was a “no-brainer” - and he is hungry for the chance to impress U’s fans.

The West Bromwich Albion striker has signed on loan for a month and goes straight into the squad for Sunday’s FA Cup first-round tie at Gosport Borough.

Roofe is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Baggies.

He was first alerted to Colchester’s interest late last week and travelled to north Essex on Monday night.

“It was an absolute no-brainer for me,” said the 21-year-old, who has three previous loan spells, at Icelandic club Vikingur Reykjavik, Northampton in 2012 and then last season at Cheltenham.

“I had no hesitation in agreeing to join and snapped up the opportunity straight away."
