Tony Humes admits Colchester United have been handed a tough tie after being drawn at home to Peterborough United in the second round of the FA Cup.
But the U’s boss believes his players will relish the chance to pit their wits against their League One rivals, with a coveted third-round place the prize on offer for the winners.
Colchester will host Posh at the Weston Homes Community Stadium at the start of next month, after the draw was made in Manchester last night.
Humes said: “We’re pleased with a home draw.
“It’s always nice not to have to travel to away grounds like we had to with Gosport but it’ll be a tough game for us.
“We already know a fair bit about Peterborough and I’m sure they know a fair bit about us.
“But we will go into the game by preparing for it like we do any other and I think we’ve shown that we shouldn’t fear any team.
“If we’re going to test ourselves, then these are the kind of games where we have to show it.”
