COLCHESTER United boss Tony Humes wants his players to knuckle down and come back fighting.

The U’s are licking their wounds after the dejection of Saturday’s 6-0 annihilation at MK Dons.

It was the club’s heaviest league defeat for more than 20 years and their fourth straight loss in League One.

However, Humes is urging his troops to put the setback behind them and “work their socks” off to put things right in Sunday’s televised FA Cup tie against Peterborough United.

“We have a lot of work to do because we have to pick the players up,” he said.

“But I expect them to turn up for training and work their socks off, to prove they’re worthy of being in the team on Sunday."
