COLCHESTER United boss Tony Humes refused to point the finger of blame after watching his side slip to defeat against MK Dons.
Dele Alli’s goal just before half-time separated the teams and left the hosts languishing in the bottom four, following Tuesday’s League One encounter.
While encouraged by another bright display, Humes admitted one of his players “shirked their responsibility” in failing to track the midfielder’s run.
However, he refused to dwell on the incident or publicly apportion blame.
“Overall, I was pleased with how we contained a very good side but someone switched off and didn’t pick their man up,” said the U’s boss, whose side host leaders Bristol City on Saturday.
“We haven’t got much from our home games recently so need people to be collectively tight.
“Someone shirked their responsibility and we can’t afford to do that.
“The players have got to take that responsibility, but I’m certainly not going to point the finger at anyone.
“That’s not what we’re about.
“We’re in it together and it’s not about blame. It’s about people working together to try and get results.”
