Colchester United have further bolstered their squad this afternoon with the capture of midfielder Joe Edwards.

The 24-year-old will wear the number four shirt at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, after becoming the U's fourth summer signing.

Edwards told the Daily Gazette: “I can’t wait to get started - I’m happy to be at Colchester and I wanted to be here from the start of pre-season."

Edwards spent four years with Yeovil Town, making 119 appearances and helping them win promotion to the Championship before leaving the Glovers following their relegation from League One, last season.

He is the U's fourth signing of the summer, following the arrival of Matthew Briggs, Richard Brindley and George Elokobi.
