COLCHESTER United boss Tony Humes wants his side to tighten up defensively in tonight’s pre-season friendly against Ipswich Town.

The U’s manager was pleased by many aspects of Saturday’s match against Leyton Orient, despite losing 3-0.

However, he admitted his team could have done better in dealing with all three goals - two headers from crosses and one from a long ball down the middle.

And he knows they must pull their socks up ahead of their meeting with East Anglian neighbours Ipswich.

“I’ll be a different test but it’s one we’ve got to be ready for,” said Humes.

“We’ll certainly have to be sharper and there are little lessons to be learnt, from Saturday."
